Protect Your Skin This Summer with Sun-Protective Swimwear

While packing the bag for the beach this summer, consider packing sun-protective swimwear in addition to all those bottles of sunscreen. Sun-protective UV rash guards and board shorts made by companies like Girls4Sport provide lasting protection from the sun that doesn't need to be reapplied.

"Sunscreen must be frequently reapplied to be effective," says dermatologist Dr. Beth Schulz-Butulis. "I recommend that people use sun protective clothing to the greatest extent that they can, since it provides constant protection."

Schulz-Butulis says it is important to make sure that the clothing has an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) label on it--ideally UPF 40 or higher. "Just wearing a regular T-shirt in the water will not give significant protection," says Schulz-Butulis. "For girls and women, I highly recommend Girls4Sport. Girls4Sport has a wide variety of stylish short and long sleeve swim tops, bottoms, and board shorts available with a UPF of 50."

"Girls4Sport is focused on designing performance swimwear for women and girls that protects their skin from the sun's harmful rays without sacrificing style or comfort," says Girls4Sport President Kim Ruby.

Girls4Sport's surf-inspired line of swimwear for women and children provides the maximum UPF rating of 50, which blocks at least 98% of UVA and UVB rays. The line features short sleeve and lo fashion jackets ng sleeve rash guard tops, coordinating swim bottoms, board shorts in varying lengths, and even pants. Girls4Sport's products are available online at http://www.girls4sport.com.
